See what we did there with the title? This is technically a Lil Wayne song, but Nicki kills it so hard that it’s pretty much her song. Weezy’s section is almost skippable on this track.
We haven’t really checked a lot of her music (we still haven’t listened to Beam Me Up Scotty…), but both of her verses on No Ceilings are solid. Somebody told us that they think she’s dope because she actually rhymes like she’s a girl (ie. quirky voice changes etc)…if that makes sense. In retrospect, we probably should’ve uploaded the picture of her ass instead of the picture of the album cover…there’s always a next time.
PS. The album of the year last year was actually a mixtape (read: No Ceilings)
We don’t know about you, but we’re pretty sure that hanging out at DD172 (aka, Dame’s studio where people like Mos Def, Curren$y and Jay Elec are meeting up and deciding to form supergroups) would probably be equivalent to having the time of your life. Is there anyone else who is catching the Luda “Fantasy” melody in their head during the chorus? Either way, toss this on an iPod and leave your house for work/school/whatever…we guarantee that you’ll feel cool while you walk down the street.
If you haven’t had a chance to check out P I Double yet, you probably should. This mixtape (4075: The Refill) was in rotation for most of December. He showed up on the scene with the single “Trap Goin’ Ham”, but that’s not really reflective of all of his material. Also, apparently he’s affiliated with Grind Time (aka, Killer Mike). The South stays winning.
Here’s a link to his Myspace: Pill, where you can download the complete mixtape should you be so inclined (both the DJ and NO DJ versions are available).
This is how you should feel while stepping into the new year. The greatest duo of all time always puts a smile on our face. Also, 3 stacks could very well be one of the Top 5 Dead or Alive.
One of our favourite tracks off of this record. When an average joe lists off a bunch of their favourite rappers and their achievements you kind’ve just brush off the lyrics and keep moving, but this song seems pretty heartfelt. Given the date, maybe we should’ve posted this tomorrow? Oh well – we don’t think that far ahead. Hopefully some of you get Space Jams!!
This is one of the few pop smash records that also happens to be a really good song on all levels (both Snoop & Pharrell killllll this). Reminds us of some college girls we used to know. Also – hearing this song just makes you feel good…enjoy the visuals.
